The exhibition was organized by the Friends of Music Society
commemorating the 70 years since the composer’s death
and the acquisition of the Scalkottas Archive
from the Music Library of Greece “Lilian Voudouri”.
The exhibition attempts to illuminate Skalkotas,
as one of the most important composers
of the 20th century.
Visitors were offered the opportunity to immerse
in the sound and music of Scalkottas
and at the same time discover his life, personality and work,
through two large sections.
The first part is dedicated to his life and
was organized in chronological order.
Its color coding was inspired by the Bauhaus and DeStijl.
The second part is dedicated to Skalkottas’ sound and music
and was presented in the form of a dark theatrical room
in which visitors were invited to take part
in an invisible orchestra.
The exhibition was accompanied by
a new short documentary about the composer,
produced by the Athens Concert Hall.
