Following the doctor’ s youngest son’s last wish
notary Kostas Paisios, who was also the last owner of the house, the project aspires to maintain and highlight the urban civilization of a society gradually vanishing, and attempts to do so in a coherent, contemporary and experiential way.
The museological narrative uses the family history in an exemplary manner, as a vehicle for maintaining and interpreting tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It aims to preserve a moment of the past in the future while creatively re-introducing it to the public. It approaches history “from the bottom up” and reflects on matters such as authenticity, representation and “integrity of the house” following the most up-to-date theoretical discourse in the field of urban social history.
Ιn the first floor of the building, aspects of private and social life are presented, while on the ground floor one can find a selective presentation of the surgical clinic of Ioannis Paisios and the notary’ s rich collection of local artwork. A room has also been designed for temporary exhibitions and other activities, along with a small library. Finally, in the basement of the house visitors will be able to experience an original motion picture project, which reflects on the family memories from the WWII and the Nazi occupation. |
