Sifnos municipal gallery will be housed
in a traditional building planned to be restored,
nearby Apollonia village’s main square.
Our proposition aims
at a holistic museological approach
that creates
a consistent and multifunctional art space,
for both visitors and the islanders.
The collection consists of about 30 small scale, oil paintings,
made by painter Costas Kounadis,
who painted in situ, for more than 40 years.
The exhibition is developed in three units:
landscapes, portraits and the building itself.
Paintings are accompanied by texts and photographs,
as well as a short film about the artist,
designed especially for the museum.
Also part of the project was
the design of educational programs for children
and other services that will ensure
that the gallery stays active in both summer and winter time.
During the project, all collection items
were documented and digitally archived.
