Ηow was the lead shot originally produced?
What is the function of a 20m high stone tower?
How was life for the average worker there?
Only some of the questions
one can find answers about by visiting the exhibition.
Anairousis Lead Shot Factory Experiential Museum
is part of the CTC – Hermoupolis Industrial Complex
and the oldest remaining pre-industrial factory of its kind,
with significant part of its machinery and tools salvaged intact.
By designing this exhibition,
we aimed to convert this old factory and its remaining parts
to a fully experiential museum space, combining
authentic objects with digital technology,
leaving the original building as unaltered as possible.
Visitors are welcomed to see and set in motion
the original machinery,
listen to last workers’ oral testimonies,
study copies of the firm’s 70 years of business documents,
learn about the products of this factory and
be informed about other lead shot factories around the globe.
Most importantly, visitors can travel back in time
and feel how it was like to work in this little old factory.
Texts are also available in Braille, for the visually impaired.
