Architect Manos Perrakis’ work is introduced to
the general public through the exhibition
ARS THEATRALIS.
His work, which covers more than 60 years, includes
more than 26 theatres
and some of the most important museums of Greece,
including the Byzantine and Christian Museum
which hosted the exhibition.
The exhibition unravels the thought and universe of the creator Perrakis,
approaching itthrough concepts that are revisited and evolved
from one project to the next over the course of many years.
His rich archive, now part of the Benaki Museum collection,
was accompanied by a handsome part of the architect’s rich
personal art collection of works crafted by friends
with whom he remained in constant creative dialogue
throughout his carrier.
The environment of the exhibition invites us to move between
the architect’s drawing room and the “black box” theatre hall,
a theatre space genre introduced to Greece by Perrakis,
offering the possibility to both architects and non-architects
to witness the creative process of the birth of a theatre stage.
